How Do Thermal Imagers Work?

Human eyesight relies on visible light, but thermal vision works differently. It is based on infrared energy, which every object gives off as a heat signature. The warmer an object is, the more infrared energy it emits. A thermal imager detects this infrared radiation and uses computer algorithms to turn the heat signature into an image on its display. This lets you see warm objects clearly even when there is no visible light.

Thermal Imaging Products from Scott Country International

Thermal imaging is used across many outdoor activities, including wildlife observation, wildlife surveys, hunting, pest control, security and surveillance. Because it reads heat rather than light, you can pick out any heat source when visibility is low or when traditional night vision struggles, such as in poor weather or behind dense foliage. We stock thermal imaging cameras from trusted optics brands, including Pulsar, NocPix, HikMicro and DNT Optics. Popular models include the HikMicro Habrok HQ35L, the NocPix Ace H50R and the HikMicro Habrok 2.0 4K.

Handheld Thermal Imagers

Handheld thermal imagers let you follow heat signatures outdoors, whether at night, in mist or fog, or in thick vegetation. We stock a range to suit every budget. Some models capture and store images on the device, while others send video over wifi to your cloud storage. The HikMicro Stellar 3.0 SQ50L and HikMicro Falcon 2.0 FQ50L are two strong options for use over longer distances.

Thermal Imaging Binoculars

Thermal imaging binoculars use two eyepieces, which is more comfortable for long viewing sessions and makes it easier to judge distance. They suit anyone spending extended time scanning open ground, such as during wildlife surveys or pest control. We carry binocular models across a range of detection ranges and budgets.

Thermal Riflescopes

As thermal imaging specialists, we offer a wide range of thermal riflescopes from brands such as NocPix, HikMicro and Pulsar. The thermal vision in these scopes improves with each new generation. There are options to fit most rifles, helping you see over long distances and identify quarry even in poor conditions.
