What Are Drones Used For?
A drone, also known as a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), is a remote-controlled aircraft fitted with one or more cameras. Drones give you an elevated view of the ground below, which makes them useful for tasks that would otherwise need a manned aircraft or be impossible from ground level. Common uses include wildlife surveys, deer counts, ecology work, mapping, inspection, security, search and rescue, and aerial photography.
When a drone is fitted with a thermal imaging camera, it can also detect heat signatures from the air. This works the same way as a handheld thermal imager: the camera picks up infrared energy given off by warm objects and turns it into an image on the controller display. Mounting this on a drone means you can scan large areas of ground for animals or people from a safe distance and an elevated position.
Drones from Scott Country International
We supply drones and accessories from DJI, the leading manufacturer in both consumer and enterprise UAVs. Our range covers thermal imaging models for survey and search work, standard models for inspection and aerial photography, and the spare parts, batteries and accessories needed to keep them in the air. Popular models include the DJI Matrice 4T and DJI Matrice 4TD, with a full range of DJI drone accessories also in stock.
Thermal Imaging Drones
Thermal imaging drones are used for aerial surveys, including thermal wildlife surveys, deer counts and wildlife ecology work. They are also used by police, fire services and search and rescue teams, because the elevated view lets operators scan a large area quickly and identify heat signatures at distance. The DJI Matrice 4T and Matrice 4TD are enterprise-grade models with integrated thermal and visible-light cameras, suited to professional survey, inspection and emergency response work.
Enterprise and Consumer Drones
Enterprise drones are built for professional use, with longer flight times, higher payload capacity and more advanced sensors than consumer models. They suit commercial survey, inspection, mapping and emergency services work. Consumer drones are lighter and easier to fly, and are well suited to aerial photography, recreational use and smaller-scale survey work. We can advise on the right model for your application, whether you need a full enterprise platform or a more compact drone for occasional use.
